The high-frequency behavior of the stator winding is synthesized herein using a multiconductor transmission line model to study potential location excessive voltage stress, being main cause insulation failure within winding. comprehensive modeling approach proclaims that distribution result antiresonance phenomenon, which can be characterized by two oscillatory responses. One response may lead stress at terminals machine, have been reported extensively. However, it other response, engenders maximum neutral end and prevails due superposition traveling waves. latter sole characteristic more detrimental insulation. Therefore, remains under even with short or no cable. Furthermore, article illustrates increasing cable up certain length potentially treacherous. simulation results validate identified phenomenon through developed in MATLAB/Simulink environment. Further, experimental verify aforementioned on an automotive-grade 60 kW permanent magnet synchronous machine.
